~ Shouting Into The Void ~

Price: $65

This was painted with acrylic and oil paint on canvas with touches of multi-media details such as various sequins, and glitters. This painting was not originally going to be included in my August art show, in fact I painted it during the month of June as the Supreme Court of the United States overturned Roe V Wade and took away a woman's right to bodily autonomy, effectively making us second-class citizens. From observing these power struggles going on in our society today, I've noticed a couple things. The first, and probably the most important, is that in battles for power, logic doesn't matter and plays little to no part in the resolution. No matter what is written on our protest signs, no matter what we are posting online or screaming in the streets, the people who want power and control won't care to listen even if all that is spoken is fact. As a woman in this country right now, I feel like we are collectively screaming, and are collectively being ignored and silenced as our government tightens its grip on the level of control they hold over our heads. Finding our voice won't be enough, and neither is making logical arguments; we need to be seen and heard, we all need to be taking action. One American flag straight-jacket is not enough to hold us all.
