This piece is painted on hard-back canvas with watercolor and oil paint. This painting depicts a gnome sitting on a tree-stump holding a smoking pipe. This gnome is difficult to read, expression-wise, but he doesn't seem happy at the very least. Even though he is surrounded by bright mushrooms with a rainbow and sunshine in the background, in the foreground, the gnome is shaded by storm clouds. What might this say about people in good situations, hindered by temporary storms?
