This is an acrylic and oil painting on canvas. My first couple years in college, I attended the University of North Georgia in Dahlonega, a small mountain town in north georgia on the way to Blue Ridge and Helen. There is this one trail that is a very popular hike for the college students in the area, named Preacher's Rock, with a beautiful view at the top. On this particular day, my group of friends and I decided to go on a hike together, but we didn't end up leaving the 'meetup apartment' until the sun had begun to set. By some miracle, we made it to the mountain, climbed to the top, and climbed back down to the bottom just in time to see this beautiful view on the drive home. I don't know how exactly this sunset lasted for the hours that it seemed to linger, but the view of the last sliver of golden-pink light peeking from behind the trees was breathtaking and the perfect end to an adventure. When I look at this painting, I feel what it was like to be satisfied from a long and eventful journey with a group of trusted friends. The end to a great day.
