This piece was made with acrylic paint on canvas, touched up with oil paint to enrich color and adjust texture. The textures of the sky and grass are sort of patchy and abrupt looking, almost like patches holding something up or holding something together. The top half of this painting is pointedly more rigid-feeling than the bottom half; the bottom, in contrast, is depicted as a fall-out of the road further back, melting into colors, smoother textures, and unknown subject matter. To me, when I look at this artwork, I imagine the idea of a 'plan' for your life or expecting the world or society to be one way, maybe a more rigid picture of what is truly there. We all start off with the idea that things are a certain way, but what happens when we come to the end of the road to find out that the illusions we previously believed in were mere constructs?
